Behrouz Nikkhah was 32 years old and hailed from Fardis, Karaj. He had been a groom for approximately 45 days, having established an independent life for himself and his new bride. Behrouz was considered one of the long-standing residents of the area, and many locals knew him by the name "Behrouz Diamond," as he owned a clothing boutique with that very name and was a familiar face among the merchants and people of the neighborhood. According to accounts published by his close ones and witnesses, Behrouz was described among his friends as a trustworthy and supportive individual; so much so that one of his friends had said, "Diamond was the place where, if I needed help to get by, I could count on Behrouz." During the protests of 9 January (19 Dey), it is said that while he was near his home, he encountered the scene of several people being wounded in the street. He stepped in to help the injured who had been incapacitated by the gunfire of suppressive forces, attempting to move them to a safer location, including his home's parking lot.
