It has been days that I have been writing about Hamid Mahdavi. I don't know how many days exactly, but for a long time now, I have been watching his videos one by one. I go back, watch again, pause the sound, stop, take notes, and then watch from the beginning once more. A man I have never met gradually moves away from being just a name and a piece of news, transforming into a life through these short, scattered fragments. At first, I only knew he was a firefighter who had lost his life in Mashhad on 8 January 2026 (18 Dey 1404). But now, every time I hear his name, above all else, Hamid's voice comes alive in my mind. "This is Mashhad Fire Station... a place where you climb 150 meters high, and then you enter a place called life... This is our job... a place where every day, we swear an oath together to protect people's lives and property, and if it's deemed necessary, to sacrifice our own lives too."
