According to the accounts published by Erfan Darbani's family, on the evening of 20 Dey (10 January 2026) (20 دی 1404), he and his brother, Alireza, were returning home after visiting a friend's barbershop in the 13 Metri Hajian street area. Alireza Darbani stated that their motorcycle broke down on the way and came to a stop. At that moment, a group of people ran past, and a few minutes later, the sound of gunfire was heard. Alireza Darbani recounted in his account that several motorcyclists with covered faces approached them, and one of them opened fire. He claimed that after the shooting, he realized his brother, Erfan, had fallen to the ground and was shot in the back. According to him, initial attempts to provide aid by the people present and later transferring Erfan to a medical center or receiving emergency services were unsuccessful, and ultimately, the news of his death was announced to the family.
