The widespread wave of protests and strikes against the Islamic Republic regime began on 28 December 2025 (7 Dey 1404) in various cities across Iran. Fooladshahr in Isfahan was among the cities whose citizens joined these protests. On the evening of Wednesday, 31 December 2025 (10 Dey 1404), Dariush Ansari Bakhtiarvandi, a 37-year-old citizen from Fooladshahr and a member of the Behdarvand tribe, lost his life during the protests. Prior to this event, a video of Dariush had been released in which he was humming the epic Luri song "Yar Yar." Following his death, this video was once again widely shared on social media, bringing his name even further into the public consciousness. According to reports published by human rights sources and information received by Iran International, Dariush Ansari Bakhtiarvandi was shot by the direct fire of security forces during the protests and lost his life before reaching the hospital. Iran International stated that it confirmed his death after verifying his identity and viewing the video of his body.
